We recognise that some quarters of the fashion industry have a questionable reputation when it comes to sustainability and ethical practices. We take our responsibility to the planet and the people we share it with very seriously, and we do care deeply about what kind of world we’re going to leave behind for future generations.
As a growing independent business we do everything we can to uphold the very best standards in these important areas. We are by no means perfect but we are committed to doing our bit. That means working with the best production partners and fabric houses that adhere to the strictest standards, such as the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). That means choosing our shipping and courier partners carefully. That means using less wasteful plastic packaging where possible.
First and foremost, we design clothes to be worn. A lot. Over many seasons, and maybe by more than one person! We’re not about fast fashion at Hartwell, we’re about high-quality and distinctive pieces that last, that are both good value and sustainable through use.
And we’re not just talking about what we make, but how we make it. We are striving to embed sustainability into everything we do, at every stage of the product journey – through design and fabric sourcing to manufacture and delivery to our customers.
